Migration visa applications which must be lodged in Australia

Applications for the types of visas listed below must be lodged with offices of the Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) offices in Australia (or via the internet).  Any applications lodged at the Australian Embassy, Vienna, will be invalid and will be returned to applicants or agents.

1. Parent Migration

A range of Parent migration visas is available to parents with children living in Australia.

All applications must be lodged with the Perth office of DIAC.

2. General Skilled Migration

The General Skilled Migration program is for people who are not sponsored by an employer and who have skills in particular occupations required in Australia.

3. Business Skills Migration

Business Skills visas are for business people to establish a business in Australia, manage a new or existing business or invest in Australia.

Applications should be lodged with the Perth office of DIAC.

4. Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)  

The ENS is for Australian employers to recruit permanent, highly-skilled staff from overseas. The employer must apply to DIAC  to nominate the position to be filled before the visa applicant can apply for the visa.

The visa application must be lodged at the same DIAC Business Centre in Australia where the employer lodged the nomination - please contact your employer about where to lodge your application.

5. Distinguished Talent visa

The distinguished talent visa is for people who can demonstrate an internationally-recognised record of outstanding achievement in a profession, the arts, sport or research/academia.

Applications must be lodged at the Canberra office of DIAC.
